Webster City is located just 15 minutes west of Interstate 35 along the Highway 20 corridor and at the center of US commerce. We are within a few hours drive of major metropolitan areas, including Des Moines, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Omaha, Lincoln, Chicago, St. Louis and more.
Since 1915, Webster City has been a council-manager form of government with a full time city manager hired by the City Council. The City Council is comprised of five members, elected in staggered terms with a Mayor selected from the members of the Council.
Webster City is located in Hamilton County and has been the County seat since 1856 when the County was created by the dividing of Webster County into two separate counties.
Webster City's finances have weathered the economic downturn better than many and you'll find security in knowing that our community can continue to invest in what makes us great. The City has maintained a solid AA- rating from Standard and Poor's, carries very little debt, and has set aside conservative reserves.
