Lindsay Henderson, Community Vitality Director
Ms. Henderson joined the City of Webster City on November 1st, 2017 after several years at Iowa Central Community College where she most recently served as the Workforce Programs Director overseeing the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act and Pathways for Academic and Career Education programs. Her previous projects include managing the Iowa Advanced Manufacturing grant in which she worked to promote careers in advanced manufacturing and developed career pathways to better serve the needs of our regional manufacturing employers. Ms. Henderson has served on the board for the Association for Iowa Workforce Professionals, and earned a leadership certificate with the Community College Leadership Initiative Consortium. Ms. Henderson also brings to the role her previous experience as a small business owner.
Ms. Henderson is a native resident of Webster City and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Iowa State University. She is currently nearing completion of a Master’s degree in Community Development also from Iowa State University. Ms. Henderson will be undertaking the City’s economic development efforts that foster business growth in the community in addition to carrying out initiatives that promote collaboration, innovation, competitiveness, entrepreneurship, and enhance the overall quality of life for Webster City residents’.
There is significant activity taking place in around Webster City, a testament not only to our community but to the region as a whole as a place for businesses to thrive and families to call home. The need for a Community Vitality Director is a recognition that the community’s prosperity is not only measured by its economic development success but also in ensuring that the broader community needs that support a positive business climate are considered such as workforce issues, housing, and quality of life matters that attract and retain families who make up the workforce in Webster City.

Daniel Ortiz-Hernandez, City Manager
Daniel Ortiz-Hernandez is the City Manager for Webster City.
Daniel Ortiz-Hernandez started as Webster City’s City Manager on October 31, 2016. Prior to Webster City he served as the City Administrator in Kimball, Nebraska responsible for the City’s services and utilities. While in Nebraska Daniel was active in a variety of groups and boards including the Municipal Energy Association of Nebraska, Public Alliance for Community Energy, Nebraska Economic Developers Association, Western Nebraska Economic Development Group, and League of Nebraska Municipalities Legislative Committee, and the Panhandle Area Development District.
Prior to Kimball, Daniel served as a Management Analyst in the City Manager’s Office for the City of Casa Grande, Arizona. He was responsible for legislative and intergovernmental affairs, economic development initiatives, budgeting and fiscal analysis, strategic planning, and special projects. In addition to his experience in Casa Grande, Daniel also served in roles with the Alliance for Innovation, the Housing Authority for the City of Los Angeles, the JusticeCorps program with the Los Angeles Superior Court, and as a teaching assistant with the Los Angeles Unified School District.
Daniel earned his Master of Public Administration degree with a concentration in urban management from Arizona State University and his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from California State University, Northridge. In addition, he completed the Southwest Leadership program at the University of Arizona and earned a Certificate in Management and Organizations. He is a member of the International City/County Management Association (ICMA), Iowa City/County Management Association (IaCMA) and the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA).
