Interstates and Highways

Webster City is strategically located along a four lane highway (Highway 20) less than fifteen minutes from Interstate 35, a NAFTA corridor that runs from northern Minnesota to the Mexican border.  Webster City is roughly half way between Interstates 90 and 80 and only a couple hours from Interstate 29.  Major metro markets that can be reached in one day by truck include:

  • Milwaukee
  • Kansas City


Webster City is served with Class 1 rail services by both the Union Pacific and Canadian National railroads.  Canadian National carries freight east-west and Union Pacific carries freight north-south, connecting to the main Union Pacific line in Ames, IA.  


Commercial air service is offered by Air Choice One from Fort Dodge, IA (approximately 25 miles west of Webster City) with daily flights connecting through Minneapolis.  Des Moines International airport is only 81 miles south of Webster City and features nine passenger airlines and two air cargo companies.  Webster City also boasts its own municipal airport with a 4,007 foot runway, private air services, full time FBO, and available jet fuel.

Public Transportation

HARIDES, operated by MIDAS, provides dail-a-ride bus services M-F between 8am to 5pm.  24-hours notification is requested by calling 1-800-287-7153.  MIDAS also has experience in providing a commuter bus line between Fort Dodge and Webster City to serve a large employer.
